Clinical Care

Clinical Care

Overview / ACT-A resources / Areas of work / Clinical Care

This workstream is targeted towards facilitating access to safe and timely delivery of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics for COVID-19 to those who need it. This workstream will complement existing clinical care work ongoing in the COVID-19 response by partners and countries for Clinical Management of COVID-19 patients as well as ensure the continuity of essential health services.

The clinical care workstream will:

• Provide integrated clinical input, including targeted COVID-19 clinical guidance to all three ACT-A pillars (vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics).

• Support integration of key clinical processes to ensure safe and timely delivery of clinical care for patients with and without COVID-19 (through guidance, tools, training, and knowledge sharing adapted to new vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics as they become available).

• Identify gaps, needs, and requirements for health and social workers to adequately roll-out the COVID-19 vaccine and other interventions while ensuring the sustainability and resilience of community systems and protection of essential health services.

In addition to this and working with the workstream on Protecting Frontline Health Workers, Clinical Care WS will take lead on guidance and technical expertise concerning the two high priority commodities: PPE (a prerequisite for the deployment of new COVID-19 tools and continuity of essential health services) and oxygen (required for many conditions including but not limited to severe and critical COVID-19 cases), the latter in close coordination with the Tx pillar.
