Lack of resource mapping and coordination for financing can lead to duplication of efforts; meanwhile, ineffective use of public financial management mechanisms often results in a lack of agile resources and sufficient absorption capacity; particularly at the frontlines. This remains a major challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. This workstream aims to help countries re-orient their budget processes and health financing arrangements so that they are better positioned to sustain the capacity to prevent, address and respond to health threats in the short, medium, and longer term while maintaining essential services.
Further, this workstream will assist countries in:
• Identifying and prioritizing where to invest most efficiently and with the greatest impact.
